MAC Master Class- Autumn/Winter 2013 Trends
Today I visisted the V&A Museum for an event called 'Fashion Festival' which was aimed purely for 16-24 year olds. Throughout the day there was a variety of presentations and talks based on the fashion industry. I found them all really useful and informative. Despite me having a clear goal on wanting to get a job in the fashion/makeup industry when I leave university I never knew there were so many roles that need filling in the fashion world. I would have to say the highlight of the day was the MAC Cosmetics Master Class. MAC senior makeup artist Rachel O'Donnell who has worked with faces such as Pixie Lott and has even done the stunning Cara Delevinge's makeup run the talk. Rachel created a beautiful Autumn/Winter 2013 look on the gorgeous model Rio..
As you can see the skin is very natural and fresh. The main aim for skin this Autumn/Winter is for it to look like you have no products on your skin. Before applying face products Rachel applied MAC Studio Careblend Oils and MAC Mineralize charged water face and body lotion to Rio's skin. Although Rio's skin was already flawless these two skincare products from MAC really enchanced her skin and gave her a radiant glow. Applying these also enabled the foundation to set on to the skin better and give instant hydration to the skin. Moving on to face products, Rachel used MAC's face and body foundation which has a much lighter consistancy compared to other MAC foundations. This foundation provides a low to medium buildable coverage which creates a natural satin-shine finish giving flawless results to your skin. The Autumn/Winter trend that Rachel created was also inspired from Catwalk shows so the Face and Body Foundation is perfect as it is long wearing. Mineralize Moisture Foundation, Pro Conceal and Correct Pallettes and Prep and Prime Loose powder were also used on Rio's skin.
The eyes were kept very simple as only one product was used yet I found them fierce and effective. MAC Feline Kohl Power Eye Pencil was applied to the upper lash line and lower lash line then smudged to create an almost 'messy' and 'grungey' look. It really surprised me that no mascara was used as for a long time it has been all about the big lashes. But after seeing just smudged eyeliner on Rio's eyes they actually gave a strong statement to the whole look. Mineralize eye gel was also used on the lids of the eyes. For brows Rachel shaped them by setting them and placing the hairs positioned upwards using a clear brow set. She then filled them in with a brow pencil in shade 'Fling'. The brows are very neat, and precise compared to the eyes. My favourite aspect of this look was most definitely the lips. So eye catching and modern. I will be living in a dark red lip this Autumn and Winter. Rachel used Nightmoth pencil and Russian Red lipstick. At first the two juxtaposing colours looked quite odd together but once Rachel blended them the lips looked unusual but fabulous.
I really loved the Autumn/Winter trend Rachel O'Donnell created on Rio, it is something I would wear and in my opinion it is wearable for day and night.
